I Moved to A New Apartment and The Air Conditioning Isn’t Working

I’ve made a horrible mistake.

Last week, I signed a lease for a beautiful apartment downtown in my favorite city.

I’d been putting extra money aside for years now, in hopes of moving closer to work and living in the midst of it all. Before, I was renting a two bedroom one bath apartment on the outskirts of the city with a colleague. We had a great time, but I was determined to follow my dream of living within the city. The apartment I just started renting is much smaller in size, with only one bedroom and one bath. I was fine with this because it’s in the perfect neighborhood, and I can walk to work now. As I was unpacking my boxes of stuff, I noticed how hot my apartment was. I could hear my AC coming through the vents on high speed, but the air coming out was warm. This was odd since I’d set my thermostat like I normally would at my other apartment. Instead of letting the warm air pump into my apartment, I shut it off completely and opened the only two windows I had. From there, Unpacking became more and more strenuous due to the heat. I called my new landlord, but they didn’t pick up. I left a detailed message explaining the problem I was having with the AC and recommended a local HVAC technician in town that had great reviews. It’s been three days and I still haven’t heard from them. It feels like I’m living in a heatbox. With summer right around the corner, I’m beginning to panic.
