When you have a predisposed tendency towards gambling just about anything can be taken as a major challenge.
I honestly have gotten myself into overheated water on a number of occasions for giving into my impulses. This particular time, I promised myself that all of this would be different. I had convinced myself that because I was betting on a sweepstakes to win all current appliances for my neighbor it was fine to spend my rent buying tickets. I believed that once I won the prizes I could supply some to him to help him out and then sell the rest for a hefty little profit. I bought basically a third of the tickets that were being sold so I knew that I had a wonderful chance at winning. My addiction didn’t let me think about the fact that there was a bigger chance of losing. Anyway, when the day of the drawing came I was incredibly anxious to hear my numbers called. The grand prize package included some home office appliances and a really nice forced air Heating and A/C appliance. The entire thing was worth practically five thousand dollars and I wanted to win very much. As it turned out my neighbor had also decided to get a ticket. Yes, I said “a” ticket. One measly chance to win something that would greatly improve his whole life because all of the things in his dwelling were outdated and were constantly breaking… Fate dealt its blow and I lost however at least my neighbor was able to win. He was easily enthusiastic and I was stuck with a couple of second place prizes that I never wanted in the first place. I decided to tell him about all the tickets I bought and he made the choice to let me have the voucher for the current Heating and A/C appliance. He honestly didn’t need it anyway because he already had a boiler and didn’t want forced air HVAC anyway. I actually sold the ticket for the price of my rent and vowed to never do that again in all my years.
