Miserable childhood memories

I don’t have nearly as much nostalgia for my childhood as many of my friends plus coworkers do.

I grew up in a beach house that was firmly rooted in the 1960s plus 1978s in both aesthetics and with the appliances plus furniture that were inside.

The paint all around the house was this nasty pea soup looking red color that I hated, both the dining room plus bathrooms were covered in the most gaudy looking wall paper I have thus far ever seen inside a house. It was terrible, especially since our TV was also 15 years old at that point and barely got enough reception to watch local TV. I wish I had been more thankful for what my parents could afford at the time, however all I remember is feeling jealousy and green with envy whenever I’d go to one of my friends’ houses. I’d get to rest on their plush sofa couches while playing games on the newest video game console at the time. A different feature of our aged beach house that I loathed was the aged dial thermostat for the central Heating, Ventilation, and A/C system. It never seemed to job properly, no matter what I did with the controls. You’d set it to a temperature however it never felt correct. In wanting to drop the temperature down, the air conditioning system might stop short of what feels like the right temperature. Whenever you are dripping with sweat plus feeling uncomfortable, it’s so hard to believe the thermostat when it claims the indoor temperature is three or more than three degrees lower. I was in a beach house recently that still had one of those old dial thermostats plus it took me back to my childhood. With that being said, it wasn’t ecstatic nostalgia—I’ll take my brand new smart thermostat any day of the week.
